Île-de-Sein

On the 24th September we went to the small island Île-de-Sein, 4 hours away from Brest. We knew from another sailor whom we met in Roscoff that a dolphin welcomes the boats arriving at the island! We wanted to see the dolphin – of course! We couldn’t believe our eyes when we actually saw him swimming next to a mooring... It was so amazing!

When we dropped our anchor the dolphin came really close to our boat to play with the chain of the ancor. We could nearly touch him with our hand...

After a small fotosession we drove with our dinghi to the little island.

Île-de-Sein - where time doesn't matter...

When it was time to drive back to Whitebird the dolphin heard the sound of our motor and came close to our dinghi.

This time Dieter and Claudi were able to touch the fin of him. It was an unbelievable feeling and happening for us!

You cannot find words to tell the emotion you have when the eye of a dolphin looks at you.

In the evening the weather became a bit stormy and we noticed that our anchor wasn’t safe on the ground. That is why we decided to go to the mooring point where the dolphin’s „home“ was...

The night was very noisy and bumpy because of the waves that came through the harbour.

The next morning the weather was calm again when we started our Biscaya crossing...
